Mount Anvil the new owners of part of the Union Square development are well under way with the construction of the main residential building. Although our job is done we are still keeping a close eye on the site and wish them the very best taking this great project forward. Here is the latest photo of the core which is racing up.

AZ Urban Studio managed the planning process (including a successful appeal) for the overall site for our client Union Street Ltd, who sold part of the site to Mount Anvil last year. If you would like to find out more information about our involvement in the Union Square project please see the our two project sheets: Union Square – Development management and Union Square – Planning applications and negotiations.

After a long battle we have finally secured planning permission and conservation area consent at appeal for the redevelopment of an important site at the heart of the Wanstead Village Conservation Area in the London Borough of Redbridge. A full award of costs against the Council was also made by the Planning Inspectorate, who agreed with our case that the Council’s planning committee had behaved unreasonably in refusing to grant permission, and in not substantiating their reasons for refusal at the appeal stage.

Please see our planning applications service page for more information on our expertise in this area. For more information on the Wanstead project please see the project sheet.

AZ Urban Studio has secured planning permission and listed building consent for the installation of a large permanent art work by the renowned artist Rachel Whiteread to the facade of the Grade II* listed Whitechapel Gallery. The work will see the completion of the celebrated Art Noveau facade more than a century after it was built without the decorative frieze orginally envisaged for the panel in the upper area of the Whitechapel High Street elevation. The project is part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, and continues the long association between Rachel Whiteread and the gallery.
