Deptford Creekside Charette

AZ Urban Studio was appointed by Creative Process to take part in a Design for London sponsored charette – an intensive public design workshop – focusing on the regeneration of Deptford Creekside, in south east London.

AZ Urban Studio provided property, development and feasibility advice throughout the week long process, helping to create a holistic and viable vision for the Creek. Over five days architects, planners, artists and environmental, transport and economic specialists discussed, designed, assessed and developed options for the regeneration of the study area – with the input of many stakeholders, including members of the public, at all stages in the process.

Rather than examining feasibility and delivery issues of the proposed design at the final stages, the financial modelling was fully integrated and iterative. Feasibility considerations informed the initial design development of the masterplan through a ‘briefing process’, to provide the design team with confidence that emerging masterplan options would be broadly
financially viable.

The vision will represent a shared starting point for change, and will feed into council planning policy and investment plans over the coming years.
