Farleigh House, Hampshire

Development planning

Our planning team has secured permission for the change of use of Farleigh House – a large Grade II* listed country house set in extensive formal gardens – to an events venue with guest rooms, together with the erection of a large marquee with the grounds.

The permission, which will operate on a seasonal basis, allows the house to retain its function as a family dwelling during the winter months.

AZ Urban Studio worked closely with officers of Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and English Heritage through the pre-application and application stages to secure this important permission for Portsmouth Estates.

Our team dealt with all Planning, Heritage and Transport matters, and were assisted by Nicholas Pearson Associates (Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment), Graeme Stevenson Architects (Building Regulations considerations), and Sustainable Acoustics (Noise Assessment).

The project is one of a number of diversification projects that we have undertaken for Portsmouth Estates, and follows our success in securing a new country house for Lord Lymington upon the Estate.
