Development planning

AZ Urban Studio has secured planning permission for the substantial demolition and rebuilding of a family house in the Holland Park conservation area, together with the addition of a large fully glazed rear extension.

Working with Finkernagel Ross architects, we advised the client on planning strategy, prepared planning and heritage statements, and managed the planning process.

In response to a previously failed planning application by another architect relating to a contemporary design rear extension, we successfully secured a lawful development certificate for a similar proposal, which subsequently formed an important fallback position in our full planning application. We successfully demonstrated that demolition of the house with the main facade retained would not cause harm to the conservation area, and further that the demolition and construction process would not cause unacceptable impacts upon the amenity of neighbours.

The project is one of a number of private houses that we are working on with Finkernagel Ross architects.
