Development planning

AZ Urban Studio, working with Groves Natcheva Architects, secured planning permission and listed building consent for the extensive renovation and remodelling of an important Grade II listed villa, located within the Kensal Green Conservation Area.

The house had been the subject of earlier attempts at renovation and extension, which had been halted during basement excavation, leaving the structure in a rather perilous condition for a number of years. It was placed upon the Historic England Heritage at Risk Register in 2019.

Working closely with Historic England and officers of LB Brent, we first agreed a temporary works package to prevent further structural deterioration, and went on to agree an approach to replacement of later additions, together with appropriate remodelling of the interior, to meet our client’s requirements for modern living.

The approved scheme will secure the future conservation of this important heritage asset, re-establishing it as a high quality family home.
