Development planning

AZ Urban Studio recently secured planning permission for the renovation and extension of a block of flats in West Hampstead. The approved scheme at 109 Canfield Gardens in the London Borough of Camden includes a new single storey rear extension, roof replacement with increased height, amalgamation of two first floor flats, new terraces, elevational improvements and landscaping.

AZ Urban Studio acted as planning consultants, managing the planning application and heritage matters on behalf of the client. Our role included advising on the scope of works, preparing the planning and heritage statements, and negotiating with the local planning authority throughout the determination process. The scheme was led by evonort architects + designers.

This consent allows the property to be reconfigured and extended to provide improved living space, upgraded external areas and a coherent design approach to the building’s rear elevation. The project will now move forward to the detailed design stage in preparation for construction.
