Development planning

Our team at AZ Urban Studio secured outline planning permission at appeal for the 10,000sqm Wings Museum (aviation) and a new nature reserve, located on a site adjacent to Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey. AZ Urban Studio were commissioned by the Wings Museum to prepare both planning appeals, following Waverley Borough Council’s refusals to grant permission for the two projects in December 2018.

The Inspector agreed with our case on both main issues in relation to the museum appeal – the effect of the development on the character and appearance of the area, and whether the development would be in an appropriate location with regard to relevant development plan policies. In relation to the nature reserve appeal, the Inspector agreed with our case that there was suitable access and car parking provided for users. The appeal sites are located immediately adjacent to the proposed major new settlement (approved by the Secretary of State in 2018) at Dunsfold Aerodrome.

The Wings Museum is one of a number of major museum projects that AZ Urban Studio are currently working on.
