The Wings Museum, Dunsfold
Development planning
We have secured approval of reserved matters applications from Waverley Borough Council for The Wings Museum at Dunsfold, working with architects Stonewood Design. This follows our success securing outline planning permission for the museum development at appeal in 2019.
The detailed proposals have taken forward the principles of the outline approval, and use the memory of place embedded in the military archaeology of the site and the landscape character of the surrounding area to present a settled large format building, and a recovered airfield landscape.
The team has worked closely with the developer of the Dunsfold Park Garden Village through the design process to ensure that the museum and associated nature reserve will form an integrated and accessible component of the planned new settlement adjacent to the site.
The Wings Museum is one of a number of major museum projects that AZ Urban Studio are currently working on, and follows our award-winning collaboration with Stonewood Design to deliver the Story of Gardening Museum in Somerset.
